The 12-volt battery of 2019-2022 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid vehicles has a serious issue and has prompted the recall of the vehicle
Certain Subaru Crosstrek models from the 2019-2022 model years were produced with a harness terminal supplying low-voltage power from the converter to the 12-volt battery that could corrode and break.
If this harness terminal is to break, it will prevent the battery from recharging. That means the battery could die when the vehicle is parked or if the harness terminal is to break when the vehicle is in motion, it could result in a loss of power and increase the risk of a crash.

Subaru of America’s recall notice reveals that owners of impacted models will be contacted from April 14, 2023 about the recall and told to bring their vehicle to a Subaru dealership for repairs.
To resolve the issue, dealerships will replace the converter terminal mounting bracket. If an inspection reveals that corrosion is present on the terminals then both the 12-volt output harness and terminals will be replaced. As is always the case for recalls like this, repairs will be performed free of charge.
This recall comes just a couple of weeks after Subaru presented the all-new Crosstrek for the U.S. market. It is available with the same two combustion-powered engines as the old model, consisting of a 2.0-liter flat-four with 152 hp and a 2.5-liter that is good for 182 hp. Both of these engines are coupled to a Lineatronic CVT transmission that sends power through all four wheels.
