The Lamborghini Urus lineup recently expanded to include S and Performante variants, but there’s another model on the horizon and it will be a radical departure from its siblings.
We’re talking about the plug-in hybrid Urus, which was recently spied undergoing cold weather testing near the Arctic Circle. Slated to debut later this year, the electrified crossover will combine efficiency with extreme performance.
We’ll talk about the latter in a little bit, but the prototype features an extensively revised front end with new headlights and a modified grille. The crossover also sports a new bumper that echoes the one found on the Urus S.

While the front end has an assortment of changes, everything aft of the A-pillar is familiar. The camouflage could be hiding things, but the model has a prominent rear spoiler and five-spoke wheels that are backed by sizable discs with silver calipers. They’re joined by a four-tailpipe exhaust system and what appears to be a new rear bumper.
Besides sporting a new design, which will presumably be shared with the rest of the lineup as part of a facelift, the Urus will have a new plug-in hybrid powertrain. The automaker has been tight-lipped about it, but the model is expected to dip into the Porsche parts bin and pluck out the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid’s powertrain.
It consists of a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, an electric motor, and a 17.9 kWh battery pack. This setup gives the model a combined output of 670 hp (500 kW / 679 PS), although Lamborghini needs bragging rights so we can expect a slightly higher output of around 675 hp (503 kW / 684 PS). There have also been rumors about a range-topping variant with up to 820 hp (611 kW / 831 PS).
