The all-new Subaru Crosstrek in its final US-spec form is here. We’ve known that it would sport new technology and improved safety but now we also get to find out what’s under the hood too. Here’s a deeper look at the Japanese automaker’s popular crossover.
We’ve already had a good look at the updated Crosstrek’s styling as it’s debuted in other markets. To that end, the styling follows a trend at Subaru of evolutionary changes as opposed to revolutionary ones.
It keeps the same general silhouette that it’s had since inception and adds smaller headlights and a broader nose. In terms of overall size, it measures 176.4 inches (4,480mm) long or about .6 inches (15mm) longer than the old Crosstrek. Dark plastics are used more heavily as well, especially on the front fascia. The new Crosstrek also features wheel arches that look nearly identical to those on the latest WRX. According to the automaker, the chassis is now some 10 percent stiffer and uses an electronic steering rack borrowed from the WRX too.

Under the hood of the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek is the exact same pair of powertrains from the outgoing model. That includes a 2.0-liter flat-four making 152 hp (113 kW) and a 2.5-liter unit that pumps out 182 hp (135 kW). Every Crosstrek will send power to all four wheels via a Lineatronic CVT gearbox.
That’s right, the manual transmission is no longer an option. As a result, every Crosstrek now comes with Subaru’s EyeSight driver aid suite (it was previously unavailable on manual-equipped models). What it doesn’t get is any sort of electrification, for now at least.
Inside the base Crosstrek, buyers will find the same 7-inch infotainment system from the old car too. Thankfully, there’s also a new 11.6-inch portrait-oriented infotainment system on offer. We expect Subaru to offer a bevy of accessories for the Crosstrek but we’re a little surprised to see very little in the way of power or off-road upgrades. The base MSRP for the Crosstrek starts at $26,290 with destination and climbs to $32,190 for the top-end Limited trim.
