The 2024-2025 MINI lineup is getting a lot more electrified and the Countryman is just one piece of that puzzle. This all-new third generation of the five-seater is bigger than before. These new spy shots also show us a few distinct differences between it and other gas-power Countryman test vehicles we’ve shown you recently.

If there was any doubt about whether or not the MINI pictured here is the EV version of the Countryman, the “Electric Test Vehicle” labels on the back and the sides should put it to bed. This vehicle along with the combustion version of the Countryman is set to share a platform with the BMW X1.

While this MINI is clearly a little less mini, it’s still similar in terms of the silhouette to previous iterations of the Countryman. A lightly tapered roof gives way to a heavy and somewhat high belt line. Those sit above essentially flat panels with soft curves and no discernible sculpting, ducting, or style lines on the side of the body itself.

 2025 MINI Countryman EV Spied With Unique Design Elements For The First Time

At the same time, the MINI Countryman EV tester has some distinct differences compared to what we believe is a Countryman JCW seen in December of 2022. The prototype seen here lacks the horizontal daytime running light that we saw on the JCW. It also gets it own set of 10-spoke wheels.

The front-end and rear-end treatments look nearly identical though there’s a chance that the EV is lacking some of the cooling components seen through the lower grille on the car from December. It doesn’t sport the quad exhaust pipes seen on the combustion car either. That might seem obvious but sometimes car companies do indeed put fake exhausts on their own test cars.

We expect to see the wraps come off of the Countryman in the not-too-distant future. For now, we know that it’ll be built in Leipzig and likely end up with a 64.7 kWh battery pack along with a pair of motors, all-wheel drive, and around 308 hp (230 kW). That’s what BMW‘s iX1 touts and we expect the Countryman to match it.
