Reservations have just opened up for BMW‘s controversial, yet hotly anticipated, XM Label Red SUV. The red-hot family hauler will be the range-topping version of the XM, BMW’s first standalone M model since the mid-engined M1 supercar of the late ’70s / early ’80s.

The reservation form, which can be found here, will allow prospective buyers in Germany to get themselves on the waiting list, after which they will be contacted about specifying the vehicle to their liking. Customers who do secure a reservation should expect to receive their XM Label Red as early as the end of this year. BMW has not yet provided any information

BMW Opens Waiting List For 738 HP XM Label Red In Germany

Compared to the normal XM, which already makes an impressive 644 hp (653 PS / 480 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque, the XM Label Red makes a ludicrous 738 hp (748 PS / 550 kW) and 735 lb-ft (997 Nm) of torque from its 4.4L twin-turbo V8 and single electric motor. That makes it the most powerful production SUV that isn’t all-electric, as well as the most powerful production BMW period. The standard XM hits 60 mph (97 km/h) from a standstill in 4.1 seconds on its way to a top speed of 168 mph (270 km/h) with the M Driver’s Package, so we can expect the Label Red to be even faster.

Along with this added performance comes exclusive looks, and seeing as the SUV has red right in the name, BMW found it fitting to include the color in its styling as well. The already boisterous light-up grille can now be seen accented in red, as well as the wheels and wraparound window trim. BMW hasn’t provided us with a rear view of the car just yet, but the new red-accented XM badge in the grille suggests the SUV will receive a similar treatment out back. Similarly, the Label Red’s interior still has yet to be revealed, but the German automaker mentioned that the exterior’s red-and-black theme will continue to cabin.

Although BMW has not officially specified any production limits for the Label Red, the automaker did confirm that the model will only be available for a limited time.

What About The USA?

BMW has confirmed that the Label Red edition, with a starting price of over $185,000 versus the base model’s MSRP of $159,995, will be available after the standard XM’s U.S. market launch in the summer of 2023. Details on how to order the XM Label Red in America will be provided at a later date.
