Faraday Future has a date with destiny and that’s March 30, 2023. According to the would-be automaker, that’s when they’ll finally begin production of the long overdue FF 91 Futurist.
The FF 91 was introduced in January of 2017 and the company originally said production would begin in 2018. That was apparently overly optimistic and Faraday Future has spent most of its existence being a dumpster fire that refuses to be extinguished.
However, that could all be in the rearview mirror as the company is aiming to begin production in little over a month. Of course, this being Faraday, nothing is set in stone and the company noted production is conditional on the “timely receipt of funds” from investors.

If the money comes through and production begins on March 30 as planned, Faraday says the first models should roll off the assembly line in early April and be delivered to customers later that month. While that’s good news, Faraday Future only had 369 preorders as of November, so the factory won’t be busy for very long unless orders start picking up.
Suppliers are likely very aware of the lack of demand, but that didn’t stop Faraday from sending them a letter calling the FF 91 Futurist “not just an electric car, but a supercar robot that provides the third internet living space.” The letter went on to reveal the company hasn’t even completed testing and validation yet, but aims to do so before production and delivery.
While there’s no guarantee anything meaningful will happen on March 30, Faraday Future CEO Chen Xuefeng said the start of production will “undoubtedly be our most important historic moment since FF was established.” He went on to say, “The company now has all of the funding commitments, assuming timely receipt, and all of the equipment needed to build the FF 91 Futurist in place, while working with numerous world-class equipment suppliers to keep FF on track to deliver the vehicle in April of this year.”
