Fisker has revealed an assortment of new details about the Ocean and Pear during a financial presentation.
Starting with the Ocean, Fisker said “homologation testing is progressing well” and should be wrapped up next month. Once complete, the crossover will be subjected to the regulatory approval process before deliveries can begin.
CEO Henrik Fisker didn’t give a specific date on when the Ocean will be launched, but said “We are the first startup to homologate two continents simultaneously.” He added the ability to “sell the Ocean in the US and seven European launch markets is unprecedented and a major de-risking strategy” as it helps to increase sales, while also enabling the automaker to shift vehicles to “whichever market has the strongest growth.”

While work is still ongoing, the company said it finalized EPA and WLTP testing, and “internal findings show longer range for the Fisker Ocean than we initially projected.” The company added they expect the model to have the “longest range of any SUV/crossover priced below $70,000.”
The exact number remains to be seen, but Fisker suggested the range could climb from 350 miles (563 km) to 360 miles (579 km) in the United States. In Europe, Henrik Fisker believes it will be closer to 700 km (435 miles) than the original 630 km (391 miles) estimate.
56 prototypes have been built so far and Fisker now has approximately 65,000 orders or reservations. The company noted people continue to sign up “despite new competition and competitors’ price reductions.” Fisker said this is a testament to the Ocean being a “class leading product” and one that already had a competitive price point.
Fisker aims to produce up to 42,400 vehicles this year, “provided the supply chain delivers per our forecast and we receive homologation in a timely manner.” The company also said they could see a “potentially positive EBITDA [Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization] for 2023.” That would be huge as most startups bleed cash and struggle for years.
A New Look At The Upcoming Pear
Besides talking about the Ocean, Fisker said Pear development is “progressing well” and they’ve already received over 5,600 reservations. The model is slated to start at $29,900 and sport a “truly revolutionary E/E architecture with just a few central computer units” as well as a range-topping variant with “well over” 300 miles (483 km) of range.
While the company is still holding back on specifics, they released new pictures showing the final exterior design. As you can see, the front end follows in the footsteps of the Ocean as it sports slender lighting units and a sizable intake. Bigger changes occur aft of the A-pillar as there’s a more pronounced shoulder line, a unique third quarter treatment, and brake lights that encircle the rear window. Fisker also said the Pear “sits higher off the ground with a raised seating position.”
