This is the third model from Chinese group Human Horizons’ HiPhi brand and while details about it are limited, there’s no denying that it looks somewhat conventional compared to the brand’s other two models.
The carmaker first burst onto the scene in mid-2019 with the unveiling of the HiPhi X. It takes the form of a six-seat, electric SUV with a design so radical that it looks more like a spaceship than a vehicle you can actually buy and drive on the road. Not long after it launched, Human Horizons followed it up with the HiPhi Z, a sedan with an equally-as-futuristic design.
Now, images have surfaced online thanks to China’s MIIT, which show the brand’s next model. It is expected to be dubbed HiPhi Y (although some Chinese sources suggest it could end up being named HiPhi V) and like the X, takes the form of an SUV.
According to the spec sheet, the vehicle is 4,938 mm (194.4 inches) long, 1,958 mm (77 inches) wide, and stands 1,658 mm (65.2 inches) tall while supporting a 2,950 mm (114.1-inch) wheelbase. The shape of the new model is less radical than the X and Z, although the front end still makes quite an impression thanks to the LED light bar, faux air intakes that house hundreds of little LEDs, and a large lower grille.

The side profile of the new HiPhi Y reveals the SUV’s two-tone paint scheme as well as thick D-pillars. As for the rear, it is dominated by a full-width LED light bar and taillights that curve down towards the bumper.
Given that Human Horizons has yet to unveil the car in full, many technical details about it are unclear. However, we know that it will feature an electric powertrain with 331 hp (247 kW) and is also said to adopt double-wishbone suspension up front.
Stay tuned to Carscoops in the coming weeks as more details about the HiPhi Y will likely emerge ahead of a possible premiere at the Shanghai Auto Show in April.
