Godzilla is going over the auction block. The R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R is one of the most hallowed used sports cars on the market. It’s even more desirable here in the United States and now one in Midnight Purple II paint is about to change hands for more than $155,000.
That paint color on this car makes it all the more desirable and it’s easy to see why. As the seller demonstrates in the gallery, the hue changes color depending on the light conditions. It, along with Millenium Jade are two of the most popular color choices on the GT-R.
In addition to the great paint color, this particular 1999 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec looks like it’s in phenomenal condition. The interior is pristine, the undercarriage is spotless, and the ATTESA All-Wheel-Drive system is still intact. All of that is made even more impressive when you realize that the car has 95,000 miles (153,000 km) on the odometer.

Before anybody gets too excited, this GT-R isn’t title-able like any other car. It’s not one of the very few that made it in during the Motorex scandal and being less than 25 years old, it’s only here in the United States under a Show and Display exemption. That means that the next owner will have to register with the NHTSA and abide by a rule that requires them to drive no more than 2,500 miles in the car each year.
Of course, the good news is that sometime in 2024, it’s going to become legal like any other car that’s 25 years old. Who knows? At that point, it might be worth even more so long as it’s in good condition. As of right now, the bid is up to$155,000, and has about a day left on the auction.
For that price, the new owner will get the legendary RB26 inline-six engine, a six-speed manual transmission, 18-inch wheels, and Brembo brakes. It’s a legendary car with legendary performance. We can’t wait to see what it ends up going for.
