The Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign is an incredibly rare and special car, and due to that rarity, we often don’t hear anything about it. Here to help with that is renowned automotive photographer Larry Chen, who recently posted a photoshoot of the car on his Instagram page for our viewing pleasure.
Clad in a red-and-gold color scheme, the car is quite reminiscent of Iron Man’s suit, and if we didn’t know any better, we’d think it was outright inspired by it. Nevertheless, it would certainly fit right in with Tony Stark’s collection of exotic cars shown in the films, which includes such vehicles as a Saleen S7, a concept version of the current-gen Acura NSX, and multiple Audi R8s amongst others.

But before you go saying the eccentric fictional billionaire wouldn’t be caught dead in a Nissan, it’s worth considering that this is no ordinary Nissan. At a price of $1.1 million dollars, the car is one of only 19 to ever be produced, and this one is the only one known to be finished in a red-and-gold color scheme. Additionally, the standard GT-R’s body has been completely reworked by legendary design house Italdesign, so you’re not just getting rarity, but also styling that’s exclusive to this car.
On top of that, the car still features the GT-R Nismo’s impressive powertrain, and it’s even uprated to make an increased 710 hp (720 PS / 530 kW) and 575 lb-ft (780 Nm) of torque. That power is sent to all four wheels, enabling a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint and top speed that’s undoubtedly quicker than the normal GT-R’s 2.9 seconds and 195 mph (315 km/h).
Thanks to Larry Chen for the photographs.
