Thought the Toyota GR Corolla was already as insane as a hot hatch can be? Well, Tom’s Racing has just previewed its slew of upgrades for the ultimate GR Corolla and it makes the standard model seem somewhat pedestrian.
The Japanese tuner and racing outfit has partnered with Japanese rally driver Takamoto Katsuta to create the hot hatch. Given that Katasuta races for the Toyota Gazoo Racing team, he knows exactly how to make a car like the GR Corolla even more impressive.
Tom’s Racing refers to its creation as the GR Corolla Type TK. Immediately making the car stand out from a regular, run-of-the-mill variant is the heavily modified front fascia that incorporates a reshaped, rectangular front grille. The tuner has then equipped it with a prominent new splitter that has large aerodynamic flics on the leading edges. Two large canards are also found on either side of the front bumper. These parts don’t just alter the looks of the Toyota but are also said to improve cooling and maneuverability.

The modifications continue along the sides where pronounced skirts are featured. Then we get to the rear. The most obvious addition is a towering wing stretching off from the roof and complete with plenty of aerodynamic fins. Tom’s Racing has also added two additional exhausts, meaning the car has five in total. That may seem excessive but we think it suits the aggressive new nature of the hatch.
No pricing details have been announced for the Type TK package but Tom’s Racing says it will start accepting pre-orders from March 1, 2023 and that the kit will be officially launched between September and November.
