The carpocalypse has claimed numerous victims over the years, so it’s interesting to note that Cadillac sedan sales surged 40% in the United States last year. The good news doesn’t end there for sedan aficionados as the CT5 enjoyed its best global sales to date.
The news was revealed in a media briefing this morning, where Cadillac Global Vice President Rory Harvey noted they were the “fastest growing full-line luxury brand” in 2022 and sold roughly 354,000 vehicles globally. The latter figure was close to being an all-time record, and was fueled by growing demand for the CT4, CT5, XT4, and Escalade.
On the sedan side, Cadillac delivered 9,271 CT4s in the United States last year for an increase of 27.8%. The CT5 performed even better as deliveries surged 68.3% to 15,896 units.

Harvey attributed the growth to a variety of factors including the addition of high-performance Blackwing variants. That’s just part of the story as the CT4 and CT5 stumbled out of the gate as they launched shortly before the coronavirus pandemic and its related disruptions. Now that things have finally started to calm down, the models are gaining traction and the CT5 is doing remarkably well as it’s posting U.S. sales that haven’t been seen since the CTS sold 15,911 units in 2016.
Furthermore, the CT4 and CT5 are helping to bring younger and more affluent customers into Cadillac showrooms. In regards to the Blackwing variants, the typical customer tends to be in their mid-50’s.
Cadillac is hoping this success continues in the future and they’re looking forward to introducing three new EVs later this year.
