Cars nowadays are more advanced than ever before boasting a plethora of impressive standard features. Most end up being really positive improvements but sometimes that just isn’t the case. What’s the one standard feature on new cars that you would prefer to be optional?
It’s not hard to think of key examples in this space like the addition of giant spoilers on cars that don’t need them, fake exhaust noises piped into the cabin via the speakers, or the fake vents that we see on cars that don’t do anything but add (often questionable) aesthetic value.
Still, it could be something else that grinds your gears like the advent of performance-based models that only offer one transmission. And no, we’re not just going after automatics in general here. Something tells me that the number one answer here is going to be something to do with driver safety aids. Lane-keep assist and lane-departure warning systems can be annoying when not executed properly. The same can be said for blind-spot warnings or parking sensor warnings.
I wonder though if adaptive cruise control is going to ultimately take the top spot. I happen to love it for its ability to keep me sane while stuck behind slow vehicles on tight one-lane roads but I have a number of friends and family members that complain about it whenever it comes up in conversation.
