Xpeng has launched the facelifted P7 in China, which features a new name, updated styling, and improved performance.
Starting outside, the P7i is instantly recognizable but it features a handful of subtle tweaks. Among them are new headlights and the “optimization of the rear wing and windshield” to reduce drag.
The color palette has also been revamped as crescent silver has been “upgraded to highlight the artistic quality of pioneer exploration.” Customers will also find a new kaitoke green option, which is exclusive to the P7i.

The cabin sports a new steering wheel, revised door panels, and a revamped center console with exposed cup holders as well as a Tesla-like wireless smartphone charger. Buyers will also find updated upholstery and improved seats with better ergonomics. They’re joined by a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15-inch infotainment system, and a 20-speaker audio system.
Two different powertrains are available and entry-level variants have a rear-mounted electric motor producing 272 hp (203 kW / 276 PS) and 324 lb-ft (440 Nm) of torque. This enables the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 6.4 seconds, hit a top speed of 124 mph (200 km/h), and have a CLTC range of 436 miles (702 km).
Customers looking for improved traction and performance can get one of the dual-motor all-wheel drive variants, which have a combined output of 467 hp (348 kW / 473 PS) and 558 lb-ft (757 Nm) of torque. This drops the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time to 3.9 seconds, but the range falls to 379 km (610 km).
On the topic of performance, the P7i comes equipped with an X-HP2.0 intelligent thermal management system that includes a heat pump. Xpeng says it improves the car’s cooling capacity by 88.9% and this enables the model to “easily maintain a speed of 118 mph (190 km/h) for 30 minutes continuously, without the risk of battery or engine overheating.” Furthermore, those living in cold climates can expect driving range to increase by up to 15% in “winter conditions.”
The P7i will be offered with what Xpeng is calling the “industry’s most advanced all-scenario driver assistance system.” It has lane centering, “cross-level parking assistance,” and Navigation Guided Pilot in cities and on highways. This is possible due to advanced computing power and higher-end versions have dual Nvidia Drive Orin-X SoCs, which are capable of up to 508 TOPS for a “17-fold increase from the previous model.”
The P7i also sports up to 31 sensors including 2 lidar units, five millimeter-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. They’re joined by up to 12 different cameras including one inside the car.
Pricing starts at ¥249,900 ($36,184) and climbs to ¥339,900 ($49,215) for the range-topping Wing Performance. The model is currently available to order in China and deliveries will begin later this month.
