General Motors has confirmed all 2024 models will come with three years of OnStar connectivity.
Most Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC vehicles will have a relatively basic OnStar Remote Access Plan. It’s smartphone-focused and will enable owners to lock, unlock, and start their vehicle with an app or Amazon Alexa. Owners will also be able to use their smartphone to locate their vehicle as well as remotely customize its in-vehicle apps and radio stations.
High-end models and trims – including Buick Avenirs, Cadillac Escalades, and GMC Hummers and Denalis – will come with a three year subscription to the OnStar Premium Plan. It provides a traditional and full-featured experience as it includes automatic crash response as well as stolen vehicle assistance and recovery.

2024 models that get OnStar Premium features standard, with no additional subscription required, for 3 years:
› GMC Hummer – all trims
› GMC Denali – all vehicles
› Buick Avenir – all vehicles
› Cadillac Escalade (same for MY23)
› Cadillac Escalade-V (same for MY23)
OnStar Premium Plan includes:
• Automatic Crash Response
• Stolen Vehicle Assistance and Recovery
• OnStar Guardian App that provides benefits outside of the vehicle
• In Vehicle App Access—e.g., Alexa Built-in, Google built-in, and more, if equipped
• Remote Access—e.g., start or stop your vehicle from compatible smartphone, lock & unlock doors, check fuel level and > tire pressure (depending on vehicle equipment).
• Unlimited streaming capability with Wi-Fi
• 3 years of Super Cruise (if equipped)
• For Cadillac Escalade models, this plan also includes 3 years of SiriusXM. All other Cadillac models receive 6 months of SiriusXM with this plan.
The Premium Plan also includes the aforementioned Remote Access as well as unlimited streaming over WiFi. Customers will also get access to the Guardian app.
Even fleet and business customers are in luck as there will be an “OnStar connected package for all MY24 vehicles, beginning with the launch of the MY24 Chevrolet Silverado EV.” Given its target audience, this service is focused on fleet management and will enable users to “monitor diagnostic trouble codes, odometer readings, fuel level/state of charge, driver reimbursement reports for at-home charging, and more.”
GM’s Director of Communications for Strategy & Innovation told Carscoops, “We are now including select OnStar safety & digital customer benefits on most new MY2024 GM vehicles in the US, for three years, at no additional charge above the MSRP.” However, at this point, it’s not clear if MSRPs will increase to factor in the newly standard tech.
All other MY24 GMC/Buick models, all other MY24 Cadillac vehicles and all MY24 Chevrolet vehicles in the U.S. (was same for MY23 Chevy models) will receive OnStar Remote Access benefits through their respective myBrand Mobile apps, with no additional subscription required, for 3 years. Premium package upgrade will be optional.
OnStar Remote Access Plan includes:
•Remote Key Fob: Lock and unlock or start vehicle with the vehicle mobile app or by asking Amazon Alexa (if properly equipped).
•Vehicle Locate: See vehicle’s location on a map, and set and share custom boundary notifications for arrivals and departures (if properly equipped)
•Remote Personalization: Customize In-Vehicle Apps and radio stations using the vehicle mobile app
Regardless, Anna Yu said the move is a result of customer feedback and marketplace research, which showed many people “value and expect the benefits of OnStar features and services included in their initial vehicle purchase.”
The move comes after a controversial decision to effectively bake the OnStar Premium Plan into an assortment of 2023 models. This resulted in significant price hikes as the subscription was mandatory regardless of whether or not you wanted it. Now, for 2024, customers will find basic connectivity standard while having the option to upgrade to the Premium Plan if they want.
For Fleet and Business Customers:

•The package provides connected vehicle data to help fleet managers monitor diagnostic trouble codes, odometer readings, fuel level/state of charge, driver reimbursement reports for at-home charging, and more.
