The 2024 Hyundai Sonata has been showcased in full for the very first time and while complete details on the mid-size sedan haven’t been released just yet, the Korean manufacturer refers to it as “more than a simple facelift” of the eighth-generation model.
Capturing the brand’s Sensuous Sportiness design philosophy, the 2024 Sonata takes inspiration from the second-generation Kona with the adoption of a full-width LED light bar at the front. The main headlamps are hidden in the upper portion of the air intakes and joined by a wider grille and sharper, more dramatic lines.
Hyundai has done much more than simply tweak the front fascia of the Sonata. It has also crafted a new hood for it with more pronounced character lines. In addition, the facelifted Sonata sports black garnish across the bottom of the body and has a host of unique features at the rear. These include a revised trunk lid and LED light bar. N Line models also have new dual mufflers and ride on distinctive 19-inch wheels.
A Big Curved Screen Inside
Numerous alterations have also been made to the cabin of the Sonata. The most obvious change is the fitment of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, both of which are housed within a panoramic curved display jutting out of the dashboard. The 2024 model also adopts a column-type shift-by-wire controller as opposed to a gear selector above the transmission tunnel.
Hyundai notes that the interior of the 2024 Sonata has also been upgraded “for an improved passenger experience with tasteful interior color combinations to enhance the sense of sportiness and premium character simultaneously.”

As mentioned, Hyundai has not yet announced specifications for the updated Sonata. However, sources tell CarScoops that the 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder will come standard and replace the turbocharged 1.6-liter offered in some markets. The 2.5-liter is good for 290 hp and 311 lb-ft (421 Nm) in the outgoing Sonata N Line. We also recently spied a prototype with all-wheel drive which will be a first in the Sonata’s history.
The 2024 Hyundai Sonata will be unveiled in full during the Seoul Mobility Show running from March 30 – April 9 and will likely make its first appearance on U.S. soil at the New York International Auto Show on April 6.
