Just a couple of months after the Mazda CX-90 was unveiled for North America, the enticing new SUV has been launched in Australia where it will top out the local range.
As in the U.S., consumers in Australia will have two powertrains to choose from. The first is a 3.3-liter turbocharged inline-six diesel with M Hybrid Boost 48-volt mild hybrid technology and producing a combined 187 kW (251 hp) at 3,750 rpm and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque between 1,500 and 2,400 rpm. Those seeking more power can order the CX-90 with a 3.3-liter turbocharged inline-six petrol with the same mild hybrid technology and rated at 254 kW (340 hp) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque.
Both engines send their power through all four wheels courtesy of an eight-speed automatic transmission that lacks a traditional torque converter.
Mazda Australia will offer the CX-90 in three different trim levels, dubbed the Touring, GT, and Azami. Prices for the Touring start at AU$74,385 ($49,565) with the 3.3-liter petrol and rise to AU$75,800 ($50,508) with the 3.3-liter diesel. Key features of the Touring include 19-inch alloy wheels, a 10.25-inch infotainment display, 7-inch digital driver display, 8-speakers, three-zone climate control, driver monitor, heated front seats, plenty of leather, LED headlights, satellite navigation, and a wireless phone charger.
