The 2024 Mercedes GLS is stepping out of the shadows ahead of its official debut on April 4th.
The automaker is keeping details under wraps, but said the entire GLS lineup will be getting a “fresh look, new software and equipment changes.” The company also released a teaser image, which provides a glimpse at the wheels and headlights.
While there isn’t much to see, previous spy photos have shown the crossover will adopt a more expressive grille and a sportier front bumper. The rear end should largely carryover, but we can expect updated taillights as they’ve been camouflaged on prototypes.

The cabin should follow in the footsteps of the facelifted GLE and have a new steering wheel, updated upholstery, and additional brightwork. They should be joined by revised trim, beefier USB charging ports, and a second-generation MBUX infotainment system with a 12.3-inch display. The latter features wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a “more interactive and capable” voice assistant, and support for over-the-air updates.
Like the GLE, the GLS 450 could have an upgraded 3.0-liter engine that develops 375 hp (280 kW / 380 PS) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque. That would be a slight improvement of 13 hp (10 kW / 13 PS).
More importantly, there could be a new GLS 450e plug-in hybrid that features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a 23.3 kWh battery pack. This setup gives the GLE variant a combined output of 381 hp (284 kW / 386 PS) and 479 lb-ft (649 Nm) of torque. The model can accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 5.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 130 mph (209 km/h), although a GLS variant would likely be slower.
