Following the premiere of the updated Polestar 2 in January, the automaker is going to reveal a performance version on March 21. The EV was teased on social media, looking almost identical to the Polestar 2 BST 270 special from last year.
Polestar published the announcement on Twitter and Instagram, accompanied by a photo and a short video. While we can only see a part of the profile and a glimpse of the front end, it is pretty obvious that the teased model is based on the Polestar 2 BST 270.
The profile shot reveals the black-painted 21-inch alloy wheels from the BST, shod in 245/35R21 Pirelli P Zero tires and hiding gold-finished Brembo brake calipers behind them. The exterior looks like it is painted in Thunder from Polestar’s color palette, with a body-colored splitter and wheel arch trim plus a darker stripe graphic on the bonnet. There could be some changes in the black grille but it’s hard to spot them from the video.
All the aforementioned features point out to the Polestar 2 BST 270. The latter debuted in June 2022 – one year after the similar “Beast” concept – with a limited production of 270 units reserved for Europe, North America, and China.
The follow-up to the BST could become available to more markets and benefit from the advancements that were introduced by the facelifted Polestar 2. Those include the new CATL-sourced 82 kWh battery pack, bringing longer range and faster charging rates, and of course, the new electric motors. The latter could produce more than the BST’s 470 HP (350 kW / 476 PS) and 680 Nm (501.5 lb-ft), resulting in even greater performance figures.
The limited production special already came fitted with lowered suspension, 20% stiffer springs, bespoke Öhlins 2-way adjustable dampers, and a front strut bar, but there’s always room for improvement.
Hopefully, all of our questions will be answered in a few days, at the official debut of the yet-unnamed Polestar 2 trim.
