Aston Martin is gearing up to launch the “next-generation of front-engine sports cars” and that journey will begin with the DB11 successor. Expected to adopt the DB12 moniker, the model was recently spied undergoing cold weather testing in Sweden.

While the car is slated to get a new name, it’s clearly an evolution and more of a facelift than a full redesign. Most of the changes are focused on the front end and the model adopts a larger grille that is flanked by new headlights. They’re joined by a redesigned front bumper, a pronounced splitter, and a ventilated hood that eschews the clamshell design found on the current car.

The rest of the design appears to carryover, but we can expect an assortment of other updates including a revised suspension and an upgraded interior.  The latter is slated to have a modern infotainment system that could echo Mercedes’ MBUX setup and have a “proper English accent.”

Engine upgrades are expected, although there’s no word on specifics at this point.  That being said, the current model offers a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with 528 hp (393 kW / 535 PS) and 513 lb-ft (675 Nm) of torque.  It’s paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission, which enables the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in four seconds before hitting a top speed of 192 mph (309 km/h).

Customers can also get a twin-turbo 5.2-liter V12 developing 630 hp (470 kW / 639 PS) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque.  It cuts the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time to 3.7 seconds, while the top speed climbs to 208 mph (334 km/h).

While the prototype is heavily camouflaged, we won’t have to wait much longer to see the production model as Aston Martin recently used their 2022 financial results presentation to confirm deliveries will begin in the third quarter.  The company also apparently teased the model underneath the Union Jack, although that image seemingly flew under the radar.
