While a series of images recently emerged online showing the radical Zeekr X in all its glory, our spy photographers have snapped a prototype being put to the test in Europe under heavy camouflage.
The camouflage of this prototype does a reasonably good job of hiding the crossover’s design but fortunately for us, China’s trusty Ministry of Industry and Information Technology shared images of the completed model in mid-February.
Zeekr, which is owned by Geely, has elected to build the crossover around Geely’s SEA platform which is also used by the Smart #1 and will underpin the Volvo XC30. Sitting at the base of the range will be models with a single electric motor that delivers 268 hp while dual-motor variants will couple this 268 hp motor with a 154 hp motor at the front wheels. CarScoops understands that the flagship model should be able to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in as little as 3 seconds while powering through to a 118 mph (190 km/h) top speed.

The exterior design of the Zeekr X is just as radical as other models in the Zeekr line-up, including the 001 sedan and 009 MPV. Visible at the front is a set of LED daytime running lights housed within dark clusters and sitting where you’d ordinarily expect to find the headlights. It appears the main headlamps are hidden behind the black horizontal strips running across the bumper.
The side profile of the crossover is particularly intriguing thanks to the sharp design lines and tapered second-row windows. Located at the rear of the Zeekr X is an LED light bar and a lower bumper section with a gloss black finish. We have not yet had the opportunity to see the interior of the new model.
Zeekr is expected to unveil its latest model in the second half of this year before Chinese sales kick-off.
