In recent years, it has been wise to keep a safe distance from Ford Mustangs leaving car events. However, it may now also be prudent to avoid Chevrolet Corvettes, as a 2019 ZR1 owner crashed while leaving a Cars & Coffee gathering in Orlando, Florida.
The Corvette ZR1 in question is painted in a bright color known as Sebring Orange and has also been adorned with a host of aftermarket parts. We have no doubt that the loves the car but at the conclusion of the event, got a little too excited with the throttle and did what we only thought Mustang owners are capable of.

In the first clip, the man filming can be heard shouting “Get it, bud, get it, bud!” as the driver of the ZR1 cruises past him. The driver then immediately slams on the throttle, spinning up the rear wheels of the powerful sports car and leaving thick black lines on the road. The car’s rear initially starts to kick to the left but then suddenly veers to the right, likely after the driver over-corrected. The driver then jumped on the brakes but by that time, it was too late.
The ‘Vette slams into the curb and a hedge on the side of the road before coming to a rest.
While the full extent of the damage isn’t apparent, we can see that significant damage has been done to the front fascia of the ZR1. Additionally, at least one of the rear wheels has been terribly bent and will need to be replaced. It’s likely that some damage was also done to the undercarriage of the car.
Beyond making the obvious mistake of hitting the throttle too hard in the Chevy, the driver also seems to have made the fatal error of turning off the traction control. Doing so in a car with a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 churning out 755 hp is never a good idea. Heck, even GM president Mark Reuss crashed a C7 Corvette ZR1 a few years ago.
