Donkervoort announced today that demand for the F22 is strong enough to force them to expand the production run by a third. The automaker says that it will now build a total of 100 of the cars.
Donkervoort unveiled the F22 in December and announced at the time that it would make just 75 of these cars. It now says that it sold all of those build slots almost as soon as it offered them. Demand for the car remained so strong, though, that it has decided to build another 25 examples.
“We had hoped people would appreciate the F22, and they did,” the automaker said in a release. “They appreciated it so much, we had to turn back to our logistics chain to source enough high-quality pieces to create another 25 cars after all the regular production slots had been filled.

The additional cars will be powered by the same Audi-sourced turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-five that makes 492 hp (367 kW / 500 PS) and 640 Nm (472 lb-ft) of torque in this application. It will also weigh the same amount, 1,653 lbs (750 kg), giving it a power-to-weight ratio of 666 hp per metric ton.
That allows the F22, an evolution of what was once a Lotus Super Seven, to accelerate from 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.5 seconds and to reach 124 mph (200 km/h) in less than eight seconds.
“We are in an unprecedented situation at Donkervoort, and it’s a testament to the design and engineering teams behind the F22 that demand is so strong,” said Denis Donkervoort, the company’s managing director.
Donkervoort reports that the first examples of the F22 have already made their way into customer hands. While the company always has strong demand in Western Europe, it says that it received orders for the car in the UAE, the U.K., and Southern Europe, and five orders from the United States. While the automaker initially planned to produce the F22 by the end of 2024, the additional run of 25 cars means that it will be producing it until mid-2025.
“It has been a unique time at Donkervoort, and the buzz behind the F22 has introduced a new buyer group to our brand to broaden our extended customer family,” Donkervoort said. “This is where it ends, though.”
