When you’re chasing some of the fastest race cars on earth, every second matters. That’s why, for 2023, Aston Martin has upgraded F1’s medical vehicle to one of the most powerful SUVs on sale today.
Following up from last year’s DBX, the Official FIA Medical Car of Formula 1 in 2023 will be the Aston Martin DBX707. Powered by a 697 hp (520 kW/707 PS) twin-turbo V8, the SUV can accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in just 3.1 seconds.
“We are delighted to continue our partnership with Formula 1 and the FIA this season,” said Roberto Fedel, Aston Martin’s chief technology officer. “DBX707 is the perfect vehicle for the critical role as an Official FIA Medical Car of Formula 1, providing the performance and punch required for the world’s greatest racing circuits, in addition to the flexibility and space required by the sport’s officials and medics.”

For its role on the racetrack, the SUV has been equipped with FIA-approved racing seats, six-point racing harnesses, and a special communication system that gives the passenger access to race control. In addition, they will also get biometric data from the drivers and a live feed of the TV coverage of the race to help them assess any incidents they have to respond to.
In addition, the interior will be kitted out with fire extinguishers, medical bags, and a defibrillator, all of which have their own special place within the SUV to make them faster to find in an emergency, and easier to check before a race.
“The updated FIA Medical Car is an impressive step forward and ensures that we will keep pace in the high-speed world of Formula 1,” said Alan van der Merwen, FIA medical car driver. “It’s definitely going to allow the Medical Car team to fully focus on the job and respond quickly and safely during any on-track deployments. It’s great to be heading into a new season well-prepared and well-equipped.”
Finished in the same shade of Aston Martin Racing Green as the racing team’s F1 cars, the medical car will also match the Aston Martin Vantage FIA Safety Car, which will return to the track for the 2023 season.
