The Nio ET5 sedan is already one of the most visually-appealing EVs to have come out of China in recent years and now, the car’s appeal has been broadened even further with the new ET5 Estate variant.

While the car has yet to be officially launched by Nio, images and information from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology show it in full. It looks even better than the sedan and according to Chinese reports, will be launched in Europe in June before sales of it commence in China soon after.

The overall design of the car is very similar to the ET5 sedan, albeit it’s been overhauled into an estate. This means that the front end continues to sport thin LED daytime running lights while the main headlamps are housed within separate clusters. Like the sedan, there is also a prominent LiDAR unit on the roof.

Nio ET5 Estate Emerges With Sleek Design Ahead Of European Launch

The ET5 Estate has the same overall dimensions as the sedan, meaning it is 4,790 mm long (188.5-inches), 1,960 mm wide (77.1-inches), and 1,499 mm tall (59-inches), complete with a 2,888 mm (113.7-inch) wheelbase. It is safe to assume that the adoption of an estate body style not only results in improved headroom for second-row passengers but should also increase the car’s cargo-carrying capacity.

We’re particularly fond of the Nio ET5 Estate’s rear end. There is a sleek spoiler stretching off from the roof as well as a pair of LED taillights and a full-width light bar. A striking diffuser is also visible.

Driving the ET5 Estate are a pair of electric motors, delivering 201 hp (150 kW) through the front wheels and 282 hp (210 kW) through the rear wheels. The combined 483 hp (360 kW) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque should allow the car to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in around 4 seconds. Nio is expected to offer the new model with 75 kWh and 100 kWh battery packs that should provide a range of 500 km (310.6 miles) and 700 km (434.9 miles) respectively.
