Quite often, the moose tests performed by Spanish publication km77 are of run-of-the-mill vehicles that have a limited focus on performance. Its most recent test, however, was of a vehicle that should perform brilliantly in such a difficult handling simulation: the latest Alpine A110 S.

While neither the Alpine A110, nor its subsequent variations, have sold in massive numbers globally, it is a very impressive sports car and certainly fitting of the fabled Alpine badge. The crew from km77 were so confident in its abilities heading into the tests that they suspected it may set a new record for the moose test.

During the first test at 75 km/h (46.6 mph) and with no prior knowledge of how the car would perform, the test driver was able to smoothly and precisely thread the sports car through the corners without hitting any of the cones. A different tester then jumps behind the wheel to see what the car is capable of at 88 km/h (54.6 mph). This proved to be far too quick for the Alpine and it understeered into a handful of the cones.

The speed was then lowered to 80 km/h (49.7 mph) and in this test, the A110 S passed with flying colors. Km77 notes that it has “tremendously agile reactions, very reactive steering, and very contained body movements” and that while the rear end did kick out slightly, it remained easy to control. The testers then tried the moose test at 82 km/h (50.9 mph) but that proved a little too quick as the car knocked down two of the cones.

Nevertheless, a best speed of 80 km/h is impressive and only places the A110 S behind the Tesla Model 3, Model Y, and Ford Focus which have all successfully completed the test at 83 km/h (51.5 mph).
