Video of a Porsche Macan driver performing the PIT maneuver on themselves is going viral and stirring up debate on Reddit.
As you can see in the clip, the driver of the dashcam-equipped vehicle is traveling in the far left lane. Everything is going fine until the Macan pulls ahead in the middle lane and then attempts to get over.
While this should have been a pretty straight forward move, they hit the dashcam-equipped vehicle and effectively PIT themselves. This sends the crossover into the barrier and the Macan rolls several times before eventually landing back on its wheels. The driver then gets out and checks on the victim, before calling for help.

The video ends shortly thereafter, but a few commenters noted the Macan driver might not be entirely to blame. If you rewatch the clip, you’ll notice the audio is briefly muted around the five second mark. This has people suggesting the driver of the dashcam-equipped vehicle purposely sped up and tried to hide it.
That seems possible as the vehicle was following the Chevrolet Silverado at a pretty consistent distance until the Macan approached. When it does, the driver closes the gap and it doesn’t appear to be the result of the Silverado driver slowing down or applying the brakes.
As Blubbpaule posted, “OP cut out the sound of him accelerating to stop the other guy from merging. They are actively changing a recording to be innocent.” They added, “This accident wouldn’t have happened if both parties weren’t selfish idiots.” It’s hard to argue with that as this crash could have been avoided.
