The official General Motors Design Instagram account feeds us with some really interesting content in terms of previously unseen sketches which usually remain hidden in the drawers of its design studio. The latest example is an unnamed pickup that could easily work as a GMC.
The sketch was created by automotive designer Bean Zavala who has been employed by General Motors since 2013. The surfacing and character lines on the doors and fenders are very similar to the current GMC styling language, which is why our mind goes to this brand from the GM portfolio.

The front end is quite different from the Canyon / Siera, featuring H-shaped LED headlights, a smaller-than-usual and mostly covered grille, and off-road accessories on the bumper. We also get to see the aerodynamic roofline, the LED taillights and the large-diameter alloy wheels while the overhangs are quite compact for the segment.
It appears that the sketch depicts a GMC Canyon-sized model, and our reader Ed who tipped us thinks of it as a preview of the pickup’s future EV variant. Indeed, the blocked grille and the lack of intakes at the front suggest that this fictional model could have a zero-emission powertrain, joining the army of the upcoming EV trucks.
GM remains coy on details, with the post description not offering any clue about the sketch. While it is most likely one of thousands of sketches created for past projects, there is a small chance it could preview some of the future styling traits of production models. What do you reckon?
Thanks for the tip Ed!
