By now, you’ve likely seen the photos of the Acura NSX that’s spent two decades under water going around. The new owners are planning to perform a modern-day miracle by restoring it to its former glory. Is that the right move or is there a better option? What would you do with it?
For those who might’ve missed the action, a 39k-mile NSX just sold at auction for $8,500. That might sound like a steal but one will quickly change their mind when they realize that it’s been residing at the bottom of a river for 20 years. The new owner plans a full-scale rebuild but has a backup plan to make it a track car if putting it on roadways proves too tough.

One of the first folks to spot the car and one of the bidders on it, Becca Nicole Johnson, told Carscoops that had she won the auction, she would have “completely stripped the car with a commercial power washer, disassemble the car to pure frame, and part out every single thing to NSX owners to help save other NSXs in the world.” That wouldn’t be where the good will would stop though.
Next, she was planning to take the back half of the vehicle and turn it into a trailer. She already has an NSX and wanted a cool way to go camping. But wait, there’s more! Becca is an active mental health advocate and uses her NSX to spread that message. The NSX Boat Trailer would’ve been wrapped in the same livery. That might be the winner before the competition has even started.
