Authorities in Michigan have arrested an 18-year-old man for impersonating a police officer and attempting to make a traffic stop. Turns out, the person the man pulled over was actually an off-duty Waterford Township police officer.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said the incident happened shortly after 11 p.m. on Monday in Rochester Hills. An off-duty police officer was pulled over by the teen while he was driving a silver BMW with red and blue flashing lights. During the stop, the actual policewoman identified herself as such and asked the impersonator for identification.
The teen driver, later identified as Christian Katan Mansoor, said he was a Detroit police officer from the 12th precinct. He returned to his BMW to retrieve identification but rather than present it, drove off, obviously realizing this his little charade had just been exposed.

The off-duty officer followed Mansoor to a trailer park in Shelby Township but lost sight of his vehicle. Deputies in the local area were alerted of the incident and headed to the trailer park where they found the BMW and the 18-year-old in the middle of switching license plates from one BMW to another. Mansoor attempted to flee on foot but was quickly arrested.
“Individuals that pose as police officers present a threat to the public and undermine legitimate law enforcement. Thankfully, this individual was caught and is being held accountable for this incident,” Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard said. “But if you had a similar incident with this described automobile or this pictured individual, please contact us.”
Mansoor was arraigned on a misdemeanor charge of impersonating a police officer and released on a $5,000 personal bond.
