BMW‘s highly anticipated XM Label Red made its debut last night, but those Down Under may be discouraged to know that owning will require parting ways with a frightening amount of money.

Two versions of the XM Label Red will be available to buyers in Australia. The ‘entry-level’ model has been priced from an eye-watering AU$344,200 ($229,777) before on-road costs while the XM Label Red Edition starts at $349,900 ($233,582). BMW is building just 500 examples of the Label Red and only 30 examples of them will be sold Down Under. To put these prices into perspective, the standard XM is offered from AU$297,900 ($198,869).

A handful of upgrades have been made to the BMW XM Label Red to make it stand out. For example, the 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 has been upgraded and when working in conjunction with its electric motor, the super SUV delivers a combined 738 hp and 738 lb-ft (997 Nm) of torque. It can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.7 seconds and continue through to 175 mph (280 km/h).

The changes don’t stop there. As the name would have you believe, various red accents come standard on the XM Label Red model. These include red trimmings around the front kidney grilles and the side windows, as well as the badges and wheel inserts. This theme continues into the cabin where BMW uses red contrast stitching.

Standard models sold in Australia come loaded with features. These include Adaptive M Suspension Professional, an M Sport Differential, 22-inch M light alloy wheels, tire pressure monitor, wireless smartphone charging, a Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system, and soft close doors.

Meanwhile, the limited-run XM Label Red Edition has a unique BMW Individual Frozen Carbon Black exterior finish, Toronto Red accents on the kidney frame, waistline, and rear diffuser inserts, 22-inch Double Spoke 922 alloy wheels with black and red accents, exclusive Merino leather from BMW Individual, and a ‘1 of 500’ plaque in the cabin.

The 2024 BMW XM Label Red will launch in Australia during the fourth quarter of this year.
