If you’re interested in seeing how the polarizing styling of the XM and 7-Series models would look in special exterior colors, the BMW Individual Configurator is the perfect tool for you. The updated configurator is now available online, giving users the ability to customize BMW models of various sizes and shapes with rare and unconventional color options.
To begin the customization process, users can start by selecting one of the many model lines available in BMW’s current range. Some of the most recent additions to the lineup include the new flagship XM, the 7-Series sedan, the M3 Touring, as well as the facelifted X5, X6, and X7. Each vehicle is showcased in 3D-generated images that depict the car in various environments and from different angles, accompanied by a short video visualization, providing a more realistic representation of the colors.

Typically, a standard BMW model comes with around 12 different color options. However, the BMW Individual color palette is much more extensive, offering over 155 different colors, including both matte and gloss finishes, as well as duo-tone configurations.
The wide range of available options is showcased in the new 7-Series, where it can take some time to scroll through all of the available exterior configurations. One of the most striking liveries is the Speed Yellow Uni / Oxid Grey Metallic combination pictured, although in some countries, people may mistake the executive sedan for a taxi.
Options for the BMW XM are fewer but still more than enough. The vehicle in the main photo is painted in Java Green II Metallic, contrasting the shiny black accents and the illuminated grille of the performance-focused SUV. Another vivid option that can be had in most of BMW’s SUVs is the Sakhir Orange III Metallic, ensuring you won’t go unnoticed.
Of course, all of this exclusivity comes at a price, as the BMW Individual paint color options cost a lot more than your average paint. For example, depending on the model, French customers have to pay anywhere between €3,950 ($4,319) and €6,950 ($7,600).
