Chery has just launched a trio of compelling new vehicles in China, two of which have been brought to life by the new Sterra brand.
These two electric Sterra models are known as the ES and ET respectively. Both are based on the carmaker’s EOX high-performance platform that features an advanced 800-volt architecture and comes loaded with features, including air suspension, rear-wheel steering, and a double-wishbone setup at the front end.
The Sterra ES from Chery takes the form of a sleek looking sedan that is approximately 4,950 mm (194.8 inches) long, 2,000 mm (78.7 inches) wide, and has a generous 2,900 mm (114 inch) wheelbase. Like so many other new vehicles hitting the market, its front end is defined by a swooping LED light bar. The front also features two prominent air intakes and a lower grille.
Then there is the Sterra ET. It is a premium mid-size SUV and adopts many of the same design themes as the ES, albeit with a slightly larger form factor.

Local media reports that the Sterra ES and ET will be offered with different battery packs, consisting of one with 60 kWh, one with 80 kWh, and a flagship 100 kWh option. Both models should offer driving ranges of between 500 km (311 mile) and 700 km (435 miles) depending on the pack. It is understood that up to 150 km (93 miles) of range can be added to the pack in just 5 minutes.
A handful of other models have also been unveiled by Chery. Among the most intriguing is the Chery TJ-1. It is a compact SUV with a rugged shape that immediately makes an impression thanks to the blacked-out front grille and LED light bar. Car News China says it will be offered with a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine as well as a plug-in hybrid with a 1.5-liter turbocharged mill and an EV-only driving range of over 100 km (62 miles).
The name TJ-1 is not final and Chery is thought to be asking its fans to help name the new SUV.
