The Buick Electra E4, the upcoming production model that will look the closest to the 2022 Electra X concept, was caught by our spy photographers under heavy camouflage. The EV was spied testing on US soil, although it has been previously reported that it will only be offered in China.
Photos of the Buick Electra E4 surfaced on China’s Ministry of Industry and Technology last January, so the camouflage doesn’t really hide something we haven’t already seen. The SUV sports slim LED headlights, plenty of chrome detailing around the central bumper intake, a sleek profile with flush door handles, a Mazda CX-30-style greenhouse, heavily inclined rear glass, dual rear spoilers, and full-width taillights just like the concept. We don’t have photos of the interior, but the model could share the curved 30-inch large OLED display found in the Electra E5.

From the data acquired from China, we know that the Buick Electra E4 measures 4,818 mm (189.7 inches) long, 1,912 mm (75.3 inches) wide, and 1,580 mm (62.2 inches) tall. This makes it 68 mm (2.7 inches) longer than a Tesla Model Y, with a similar footprint to other five-seater SUV competitors.
As with the slightly larger and bulkier Buick Electra E5, the Electra E4 rides on GM’s Ultium architecture. The SUV is expected to be offered with a single electric motor producing 241 hp (180 kW / 245 PS), and with dual electric motors offering AWD. Energy will be stored in a lithium iron phosphate battery pack of unknown capacity and range figures.
In November 2022, Mark Reuss, GM’s chairman, said that the Buick Electra E4 would be exclusively offered in China, unlike the Electra E5 which will be available in both China and North America. The market launch of the Electra E4 is expected for the second half of the year.
