In 2021, Citroën introduced the Urban Collëctif concept, an all-electric skateboard platform that can be topped by autonomous pods depending on a passenger’s needs. Now, the French automaker has asked its Chinese division to create a trio of concepts for the Shanghai auto show.
Citroën has revealed three new pod concepts that focus on providing customers with a cozy, an entertaining, or gourmet commuting experience. They are the Cozy Capsule, the Immersive Air, and the Wander Café.
Cozy Capsule
The first capsule is intended for just two passengers, and seeks to wrap occupants in comfort and tranquility. The Cozy Capsule is inspired by French perfume bottles, and features a crystal exterior shell on a stone-like base, with a cork belt and a leafy Mohawk.

Inside, the crystal shell gives the interior an orange glow and an eggshell-shaped seat is fully adjustable. It can from an upright seating position to a flat position for laying down. The upper section of the shell can go from translucent to opaque to provide occupants with a little privacy.
Opposite the orange Alcantara seat, there is a cork bench to allow for another occupant. Elsewhere, the capsule features an air purifier, a self-watering hanging plant, and more.
Immersive Air
Whereas the first capsule is intended for private rides, the second is for entertaining. A U-shaped bench seat is intended to bring passengers together. It offers a microphone that hangs from the ceiling and a 4K display for karaoke parties. The display can also be used for playing video games or watching TV, if that’s more the mood.
The purple coloring speaks to the late-night vibe that is further amplified by the shimmering trim and the club-like lighting. The tinted exterior windows obscure the view in, but not the view out, to give occupants privacy, without shutting them out from the city.
Wander Café
The final pod seeks to connect passengers to the city, rather than cutting them off at all. The open air Wander Café is intended for two passengers and offers them a cold dish and beverage tasting experience, while the sounds and sights of the city roll by.
Since there’s no room for a waiter, the pod is designed to give passengers easy access to a selection of self-serve dishes through a screen integrated in the table. Available for afternoon tea, or happy-hour imbibing, it is perhaps the most French of all the concepts we’ve seen so far.
