The Jailbreak versions of the Dodge SRT Hellcat twins are innately unique. The entire point of the trim is to allow buyers to customize the car to their personal tastes. Despite that and the fact that dealers across the country still have room to order new ones, used Jailbreak Hellcats are going for big bucks on the second-hand market. Are these buyers completely missing the point?
Just to clarify, when Dodge announced the Jailbreak program back in late 2021, it was exclusive to the Hellcat Redeye Widebodied cars. Even still, it opened up the ability to choose from previously restricted combinations across more than 20 different categories from stripes to seats to brake calipers and more.
For the 2023 model year, the Jailbreak program has been expanded to include the rest of the Hellcat lineup beyond just the Redeye models. That move has made it so that there are a number of available Jailbreak orders. Thanks to Dodge’s own Horsepower Locator, we’ve found dozens across the country. Each one represents the opportunity for a buyer to get exactly the Hellcat that they want.

Despite that, we’ve recently seen a number of Jailbreak Hellcats going for above MSRP at auction. The 2022 model year Challenger SRT Jailbreak in our lead image sold a little over a week ago for $126,000 despite an MSRP of $103,996. Just days before that, a blacked-out one went for $134,000 despite an original price of $100,916.
Another super-low mileage unit sold in February for $130,000 with a window sticker price of $102,176. That’s about a 30 percent premium on what is, essentially, the original buyer’s perfect Hellcat. That might make sense in rare cases but it sure seems as though these auction winners are missing the entire point.
