Human Horizons is getting closer to launching the HiPhi brand in Europe, confirming that the all-electric HiPhi X recently passed homologation tests by TÜV SÜD.
The TÜV SÜD tests included a detailed analysis of the HiPhi X’s battery management system, chassis control, brakes, steering and active systems such as park assist and radar-guided cruise control. It also went through EMC testing to ensure that its high-voltage components do not interfere with the ambient electromagnetic environment.
“Receiving the necessary test reports from TÜV SÜD for the European vehicle approval is not only an important step forward in our carefully considered plans for launching in Europe, but it’s also a reinforcement of the meticulous standards to which HiPhi products are engineered,” HiPhi chief technology officer and co-founder Mark Stanton said. “European road safety standards are among the strictest in the world, and the homologation by TÜV SÜD confirms that HiPhi X meets these standards.”

The HiPhi X to be sold in Europe will come standard with a 97 kWh battery pack that drives a pair of electric motors, each with 295 hp. Human Horizons notes that the EV is good for 650 km (404 miles) of range under CLTC conditions. Examples sold in China are also available with a 120 kWh battery pack but it doesn’t appear as though this battery will be offered in Europe.
There’s plenty more to like about the HiPhi X. Each variant comes equipped with a 17-speaker Meridian audio system, a 19.9-inch entertainment screen for the front passenger, and even a customizable smart fragrance system. It also includes a smart refrigerator, 8-inch touchscreens at the rear, fully-adjustable executive airline-style seats, and is currently sold in China in both four- and six-seat guises.
The car manufacturer will announce more detailed plans about its European launch in the coming days at the Shanghai Auto Show.
