The Volkswagen Transporter T6.1 is one of the most popular choices among campers so it is no surprise that tuners offer different kinds of packages for the van. Irmscher presented its own take on the T6.1 with rugged looks and a removable camping kit inside the cabin.

The Remshalden-based tuner added a number of exterior accessories which do not only serve aesthetic purposes but also make the VW more capable off the beaten track. The highlight is the black 18-inch Cross Star wheels, shod in Pirelli Scorpion all-terrain tires.

Irmscher Turns The VW T6.1 Into An Adventurous Camper

The crossover looks are further intensified by the matt black bull bar protecting the front bumper, matching the stainless steel side steps on the profile. As a final touch, the tuner added a duo-tone livery with “Cross Irmscher” graphics and removed the VW emblem from the grille. For a better camper experience, all these can be combined with a pop-up roof and a retractable awning.

More importantly, Irmscher added the multifunction “i Box” system inside the cabin. The kit can be installed or removed in 10 minutes transforming the interior into a living space. It includes a foldable double bed, a removable kitchen module complete with a cooking stove and sink, a portable shower, and plenty of storage compartments for all of your stuff.

The project was undertaken by the Irmscher Van Systems department and the parts will soon be available for purchase online or through select dealerships. The tuner didn’t reveal the cost, but browsing through the official website we found that the “i Box” retails for €4,874.24 ($5,327.35). We also found out that Irmscher is working on tuning options for the newer, MQB-based VW Multivan T7.
