The Nissan X-Trail family is set to grow in Australia form the second half of 2023 with the launch of the new ST-L e-Power variant. This new model will join the Ti and Ti-L trim levels already offered for e-Power derivatives of the X-Trail.
Nissan Australia says the ST-L e-Power with e-4ORCE will sit below the Ti and Ti-L in the range and start at AU$49,490 ($32,715). By comparison, the X-Trail Ti e-Power and Ti-L e-Power models that are already available are priced from AU$54,190 ($35,822) and AU$57,190 ($37,805) respectively.
Nothing differentiates the ST-L e-Power from the Ti and Ti-L models on the powertrain front. As such, it continues to rock a turbocharged petrol engine working alongside a power generator, inverter, and a 2.1 kWh battery pack. It also has a 150 kW (201 hp) electric motor at the front axle and a 100 kW (134 hp) motor at the rear axle, resulting in a combined 157 kW (210 hp). As with other e-Power models in Nissan’s range, the petrol engine serves solely as a generator and Nissan Australia says it results in frugal combined fuel consumption of just 6.1 l/100 km (38.56 mpg).

Working alongside the hybrid powertrain is Nissan’s latest e-4ORCE all-wheel drive system that includes a torque vectoring function to shuffle power side to side. The system also manages power output and braking performance for each wheel to maximize agility and stability regardless of road conditions. e-4ORCE can even reduce vehicle pitch and dive by adding regenerative braking via the rear motor. One-pedal driving one is also available.
While the ST-L e-Power is the entry-level model, it still comes loaded with features. These include active noise cancellation, privacy glass, fog lights, leather-accented steering wheel, 40:20:20 split rear seats, sliding rear seats, heated front seats, synthetic leather trim, luggage boards, dual-zone climate control, 18-inch wheels, high beam assist, and an 8-inch infotainment display with six speakers.
Additional features found in the Ti e-POWER include an intelligent rearview mirror, adaptive Matrix LED headlights, auto wipers, a 10.8-inch Head-Up display, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment display, ambient lighting, leather accented trim, and a panoramic sunroof. The Ti-L builds on the standard Ti and adds 20-inch alloy wheels, a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, memory front seats, quilted Nappa leather, an improved ambient lighting system, 10-speaker Bose audio system, and a motion-sensing tailgate.
