Renault is hard at work developing a facelifted version of the Captur and our spy photographers recently snapped a camouflaged test car on public roads. While the Captur is not sold in the United States, there’s still plenty to get excited about with this new model.
We had the opportunity to test the current Renault Captur in Australia in the middle of last year and were left very impressed with what we found. Indeed, we think it is one of the best SUVs in its segment and despite being underappreciated by many, has a lot going for it. The facelifted model should be even better.
Driven: 2022 Renault Captur R.S. Line Is One Of The Best In Class
This prototype has camouflage adorned both its front and rear fascias, meaning it is hard to know the full extent of the changes made by the French car manufacturer. Recent reports suggest that the redesign of Renault’s best-selling SUV will be inspired by the Vision Scenic concept. However, it is still possible the headlights will retain the familiar claw shape and that Renault has simply done a good job of hiding them. Elsewhere, the automaker has designed new LED daytime running lights for the SUV.
The changes continue across the rear end of the SUV where it appears as though Renault has fitted new taillights and a unique bumper.
While we have not yet had the opportunity to see the interior of the updated model, we’ve been told that the new Captur should adopt the brand’s latest OpenR infotainment system, complete with the most up-to-date software, a 9.3-inch central infotainment display, and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster.
Powertrain details haven’t been confirmed but CarScoops suspects the current BlueHDI diesel will be dropped and a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder will be available in petrol and LPG guises. Traditional hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions are also said to be on the cards.
