While the first examples of the 2023 BMW M2 G87 have already reached US dealers, one an unlucky owner will have to wait a bit (or possibly even a lot) longer for their car to arrive. The reason for that is an accident in Massachusetts, involving a brand-new M2 that was heading to the dealership for delivery.
The aftermath of the incident was caught on camera, with the same short video published on YouTube by a channel called Vice City Nightcrawler and on Instagram by user @g2_mike. It appears that the car was in transit from the warehouse to the showroom floor when the crash occurred, making it a prime candidate for the first damaged G87 in the world.

As reported by BMW Blog, a semi-truck rear-ended the BMW M2 and pushed it into a previous-gen Toyota RAV4 that was driving in the front. The BMW suffered significant damage on the rear bumper, taillight, and rear fender, which has been deformed. The rear wheel is also slightly off-angle, showing that this is not going to be an easy fix.
The video only shows the rear end of the BMW but the bump in the Toyota’s tailgate suggests that the front might also be damaged. We can also see the profile of the M2 which still has the protective stickers from the factory floor. For those wondering about the spec, the vehicle is painted in Brooklyn Grey, combined with black-finished alloy wheels.
While the car is far from being totaled and can be fully repaired with some spare parts, it will certainly not be delivered after this unfortunate event. Instead, the owner will get another brand-new example and this one will likely be fixed and sold at a lower price. Hopefully, both will be cherished, making the best out of the 453 hp (338 kW / 460 PS) from the twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six engine and the BMW M-specific setup.
