The Volkswagen ID.7 is getting ready to step into the spotlight as the model will be simultaneously unveiled in China, Europe, and the United States on April 17th.
We’ll be at the U.S. debut in New York and the company has high hopes for the electric sedan. As Imelda Labbé explained, “The ID.7 is an extremely important model for Volkswagen in China, Canada and the USA. It impresses with plenty of space, innovative assist systems, and modern features like a high-end infotainment system.” The Member of the Board of Management for Sales, Marketing and Aftersales went on to say, “Our customers will receive a genuine premium package with the first all-electric flagship model from Volkswagen.”
We’ll have full details on Monday, but China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology revealed the ID.7 earlier this week and Volkswagen has previously shown its interior. The latter will feature an augmented reality head-up display, a 15-inch infotainment system, and a smart climate control system that “reacts to voice commands and takes into account the position of the sun as well as individual user preferences.”

Volkswagen paid a lot of attention to the front seats and they’ll offer up to 14-way power adjustment. While that’s not too unusual, the seats will offer an automatic climate control mode that uses temperature and moisture sensors to activate heating or cooling as needed.
The car will also be offered with ergoActive Premium seats, which have a “newly developed massage function.” They promise to deliver a “particularly high level of comfort” as well as an experience that was “previously known only in the luxury class.”
The ID.7 will ride on the MEB platform and Volkswagen has previously said the model will have a 200 kW charging capability as well as a WLTP range of up to 435 miles (700 km). The sedan will also offer adaptive chassis control (DCC) and the new APP550 electric drive unit that was introduced yesterday. It produces 282 hp (210 kW / 286 PS) and around 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque.
We’ll have more to say next week, but Volkswagen noted the ID.7 is a “further milestone on its path to offering a purely electric model range.” The company went on to say they’ll launch a total of ten new ID. models by 2026 and have the “widest electric range of all manufacturers in Europe” at that time.
