The GMC Canyon is the latest and greatest mid-size pickup truck from General Motors. In the next few days we’re going to have a chance to test it all over the Asheville, North Carolina area. What do you want to know? What should we test? We’ll get you the answers you want.
The Canyon comes only as a crew cab and with what looks like the nicest mid-size truck interior by some margin. Every single trim level uses the same 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that develops 310 hp (231 kW) and 430 lb-ft (582 Nm) of torque. That’s a bit more than is available on this truck’s corporate sibling.
We’ve already driven the largely similar albeit less luxurious Chevrolet Colorado. Overall, we felt like it was a huge upgrade for a truck that desperately needed it. That makes us excited to see just how GMC plans to separate the Canyon in an effort to limit sales cannibalization.

Perhaps none of the Canyons that we’ll drive promise as much as the Canyon AT4X. It’s the smaller sibling of the Sierra AT4X which we tested at Diablo Drop Off last year. If it’s anything like its big brother, the Canyon AT4X should be supremely comfortable, highly capable, and even better to drive on everyday roads since it’s not as big as a Sherman tank. The Sierra AT4X is, at least in terms of length.
With that in mind, we want to know what you’re wondering about the latest Canyon. Notably, GM says that we’ll have the chance to drive every trim level so we’ll have an opportunity to compare one to the other. Let us know what you want us to test or ask GMC below.
