The Porsche Carrera GT has always been held in high regard and up until late 2019, pristine examples could be found on the used market for between $600,000 and $700,000. Prices have soared since then with the mid-engined Porsche routinely fetching over $1.5 million and as much as $2 million for low-mileage models.
This Carrera GT is a 2005 model and even though it has been driven 17,000 km (~11,000 miles), which is a touch more than some other examples we’ve seen over the past 24 months, it seems set to sell for an eye-watering sum. It is currently available through Bring a Trailer and with almost 2 weeks left in the auction, bidding had already exceeded $1 million.
The listing notes that the car is painted in GT Silver Metallic and that it continues to sport the original forged magnesium wheels measuring 19×9.5 at the front and 20×12.5 at the rear. Wrapped around these wheels are Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires but given that these tires are no longer produced and were superseded by the Pilot Sport 4S and then the Pilot Sport 5, replacing them would probably be a good idea.

Few would deny that the interior of the Carrera GT is absolutely timeless and it is no different here. The carbon fiber seats are wrapped in lovely Terracotta leather that is also found on the dashboard, center console, A-pillars, steering wheel, and door panels. Other elements of the cabin are trimmed in magnesium, carbon fiber and aluminum while taking pride of place on the transmission tunnel is the six-speed shifter with a laminated beechwood knob.
While it is a dream of many car enthusiasts to own a vehicle like the Porsche Carrera GT, the truth is that it remains out of reach for most of us, even if you were to sell every possession you have to try and afford it. One can only dream, right?
