Hot hatches don’t come cheap, but you might be in for some sticker shock as Acura has announced the 2024 Integra Type S will start at $50,800 before factoring in the $1,195 destination fee.
That’s a pretty substantial number as the standard Integra begins at $31,500 and you can get a similar Honda Civic Type R for $43,795. It’s also impossible not to mention the $44,740 Volkswagen Golf R or the $55,800 Audi S5 Sportback.
So what does $50,800 get you? A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine pumping out 320 hp (239 kW / 324 PS) and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque. That’s 5 hp (4 kW / 5 PS) more than the Honda and it’s paired with a six-speed manual transmission featuring an automatic rev-matching function.

The engine is only part of the story as the Integra Type S has a limited-slip differential, an adaptive damper system, and a dual-axis front suspension that promises better “road holding” and reduced torque steer. Buyers will also find a beefier braking system that features front and rear discs which are 1.5 and 0.9 inches (38 and 23 mm) larger than those found on the regular model. If you want to live out your boy racer fantasies, you can throw it into Sport+ mode to hear “pops and bangs for the most engaging experience possible.”
Acura didn’t just focus on performance as the car has been given a sporty makeover. The changes immediately stand out as the Type S has a unique front fascia with a larger grille and more aggressive intakes. They’re joined by a ventilated aluminum hood, widened fenders, and LED lighting units.
Out back, there’s an aggressive rear end with a black diffuser and a center-mounted triple exhaust. Other highlights include a black rear spoiler and 19-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S high-performance summer tires.
A Sporty And Well-Equipped Cabin
The sporty styling continues inside as there are 12-way power front sport seats with perforated Ultrasuede inserts. They feature heating and heavy bolstering as well as Type S logos on the headrests.
When it’s time to get a grip, there’s a perforated leather steering wheel with contrast stitching. It’s joined by a dark anodized shifter with a black Ultrasuede boot.
Besides the special touches, the Integra Type S comes nicely equipped with a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 9-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. Buyers will also find a head-up display, a wireless smartphone charger, and a 16-speaker ELS Studio 3D audio system. They’re joined by an ambient lighting system and a dual-zone automatic climate control system.
The liftback comes with the AcuraWatch suite of driver assistance systems which should include forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and traffic sign recognition technology. The model will also have blind spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert.
