Aston Martin is gearing up to introduce the DB12 tomorrow, but spy photographers have managed to catch the DB12 Volante getting in some last minute testing.
Dressed in a familiar green wrap, the prototype is instantly recognizable as the DB12 is really more of a facelift than a proper redesign. That being said, the model will have a new front fascia with a larger grille. They’ll be joined by restyled headlights, a pronounced splitter, and a new hood.
The rest of the exterior carries over virtually untouched, but the cabin is getting a much needed makeover. As shown in previous teasers, the dated Mercedes infotainment system will be replaced by a modern touchscreen display that is mounted on the center console.

That isn’t the only change as the DB12 will feature a minimalist shifter, higher quality switchgear, and slender air vents. We can also expect a new steering wheel and a modern digital instrument cluster.
Aston Martin has been tight-lipped on specifics, but has previously said their next-generation of vehicles will be characterized by “prodigious performance and pinpoint driving dynamics.” As part of this effort, the current twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 is expected to be replaced by a more powerful version that is shared with the Mercedes-AMG SL 63. It produces 577 hp (430 kW / 585 PS) and 590 lb-ft (799 Nm) of torque, which is far more than the DB11’s output of 528 hp (393 kW / 535 PS) and 513 lb-ft (675 Nm).
The twin-turbo 5.2-liter V12 could also make a return and it currently packs 630 hp (470 kW / 639 PS) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque. However, we should learn full details shortly.
