Stellantis is set to expand its line of sub-compact SUVs with the upcoming launch of the Fiat 600 later this year. The new small crossover, and the Italian sibling of the Jeep Avenger, will feature a chunky exterior design inspired by the Fiat 500 and will be powered by an electric powertrain, though there may be a mild-hybrid option for select markets. Our team has gathered all available information on the upcoming small SUV, and we’ve created accurate renderings to give you a preview of what’s to come.
Recently captured spy shots show that the new SUV will look like a bloated version of the electric Fiat 500 city car. Among the shared styling cues will be the round-shaped split headlights, a chrome-infused grille, body-colored patterning on the lower bumper intake, surfacing around the bodywork, a large rear spoiler, and C-shaped LED graphics on the taillights. However, the 600 will differentiate itself from the 500 with a more practical five-door body, a longer wheelbase, and a more generous ground clearance.

Fiat’s new SUV is expected to have similar dimensions to its Stellantis siblings, the Jeep Avenger and Opel Mokka. As a sub-compact SUV, the 600 will span a length between 4,084-4,151 mm (160.8-163.4 inches), with a wheelbase of around 2,560 mm (100.8 inches). These dimensions will position the 600 at the lower end of the sub-compact spectrum, making it smaller than the Fiat 500X, which is reportedly being replaced by a larger model.
Our spy photographers have also recently captured interior shots of the Fiat 600 prototypes, providing a glimpse of the vehicle’s cabin. The photos reveal a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen and a round-shaped digital instrument cluster positioned behind the steering wheel. Fiat is well-known for offering personalization options, including colorful interior accents, sustainable upholstery materials, and Italian-themed Easter eggs, for the Fiat 500. It is expected that the company will continue this strategy for the 600.

The 600 is expected to be built on the CMP / eCMP architecture, which is already used in a range of vehicles, including the Jeep Avenger, Opel/Vauxhall Mokka, DS 3 Crossback, Peugeot 2008, and various superminis. The same platform is set to underpin the next-generation Citroen C3 Aircross and the Alfa Romeo Brenero. The Tychy factory in Poland will produce the Fiat, Jeep, and Alfa Romeo models, which will be the most closely related among these vehicles.
It will most likely be powered by a single electric motor producing 154 hp (115 kW / 156 PS) and 260 Nm (191.8 lb-ft) of torque. The widely-used 54 kWh battery pack is expected to allow a WLTP driving range close to 400 km (249 miles). Although there is no official information available at this point, it is possible that a performance version from Abarth could also be in the works.
The platform is also compatible with internal combustion powertrains, which would theoretically allow the option of a mild-hybrid 1.2-liter engine for select markets. However, Fiat may choose to go EV-only, especially as prices for ICE-powered models of this size have risen significantly in the past year. This has narrowed the price gap between ICE and EV equivalents, making electric models more appealing with the help of government incentives.
Fiat is expected to debut the new 600 in the second half of 2023 as one of two new EVs this year. While the electric Fiat 500 is set to cross the Atlantic in 2024, it is unclear whether the larger and more practical 600 will be added to the North American lineup in the future.
