In its latest teaser for the upcoming, 2024 Tacoma, Toyota confirmed that the much-loved pickup will be offered with a six-speed manual transmission. Previously advertised as the perfect overlanding companion, Toyota is giving another reason for enthusiasts to get excited with their new mid-size truck.
“Legends are more than automatic; they always come in clutch,” Toyota wrote in a release today. “The all-new 2024 Toyota Tacoma, available with a six-speed manual transmission.”
The automaker published photos on its social media feeds, showing three pedals, and a comment stating that the 2024 Tacoma will “come in clutch.” The posts add to a growing base of information we have relating to the new truck.

Toyota has previously revealed that the truck will be offered with an i-Force MAX hybrid powertrain. The carmaker’s patent for a manual transmission that works with a hybrid powertrain was recently made public.
The “i-Force MAX” designation has only previously been given to the V6-based unit in the much larger Toyota Tundra. There, it makes a very impressive 437 hp (326 kW/443 PS) and 583 lb-ft (790 Nm) of torque.
We’ve long suspected that the new Tacoma would be offered with a hybrid powertrain, but earlier reports suggested that it would be offered with the four-cylinder-based Hybrid MAX power unit offered in the Grand Highlander and the Crown.
Toyota has also revealed that the truck will be offered in a new “Trailhunter” trim. That will come with off-road goodies provided by ARB and is expected to be a “flagship offering,” which may mean that it’s even better equipped than the TRD and TRD Pro trims.
The truck will also get a removable JBL Bluetooth speaker, as well as Fox shocks and disc brakes.
