Buick is preparing to update the Envision Plus in China, and the new design has been revealed in documents filed with the country’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The refreshed design brings the model more in line with Buick’s modern design language.
Sharper, thinner headlights, a larger, lower grille, and a new badge help mark out the updated Envision Plus over the outgoing model. The new features combine to make the extended crossover look more like the Electra, and the other vehicles that are leading Buick’s design for the future.
The update to the new front end is more than skin-deep. Specifications published by the ministry show that the new Envision Plus will be 23 mm (or roughly an inch) shorter than the model it replaces. The subtracted length is unlikely to impact the passenger volume of the seven-seat crossover, which is based on the Envision S.

Changes will also occur at the back, where new taillights help the Envision Plus look a little fancier. The lighting element extends across the entire tailgate and is underlined by a shining metallic trim piece.
At both the front and the rear, Buick’s new simplified badge can also be seen. This eschews the surrounding circle, and organizes the three shields in a straight line, rather than diagonally, as has historically been seen on the brand’s vehicles.
Elsewhere, the exterior design of the new crossover looks more or less unchanged. Under the hood, updates will also be limited. The automaker will offer two engines, a 1.5-liter that makes 201 hp (150 kW/204 PS), and a 2.0-liter unit that makes 227 hp (169 kW/230 PS).
It is not yet clear when Buick will officially launch the updated Envision Plus, but this disclosure makes it seem likely that the new model will be introduced soon.
