The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible will serve as the official pace car for the 107th Indianapolis 500 scheduled for Sunday, May 28.

This particular Corvette Z06 Convertible is finished in what we believe is one of the car’s most underrated colors: Red Mist Metallic. It also features forged aluminum wheels with a Tech Bronze finish and has various Jet Black and Sky Cool Gray accents. The obligatory Indy 500 logos have then been applied.

“We are honored to be pacing the 107th Running of the Indianapolis 500 with the Corvette Z06 convertible,” Global Chevrolet vice president Scott Bell said. “Chevrolet and INDYCAR share the same spirit of competition, and we are proud Z06 will lead the pack across the bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.”

This year’s race will mark the 34th time that a Chevrolet has paced the event and the 20th time that it has been led by a Corvette.

“As we celebrate the rich history of the Corvette Pace Car at IMS, it’s amazing to see the evolution of these cars on and off the track,” added Indianapolis Motor Speedway president J. Douglas Boles. “The hardtop convertible on the 2023 Corvette Z06 is just another example of the Chevrolet innovation that translates from track to street.”

Much like the hardtop Corvette Z06, the Convertible is powered by the a 5.5-liter V8. This engine is the most powerful naturally-aspirated V8 ever fitted to a production car and delivers 670 hp and 460 lb-ft (624 Nm) of torque. Not only is this engine very powerful but the presence of a flat-plane crank also makes it one of the finest-sounding supercars on the planet, somewhat resembling the soundtrack of naturally-aspirated V8s once built by Ferrari.

The Chevy Corvette Z06 hardtop served as the official Indy 500 pace car last year.
